Shera Factory Office

The Shera Factory Office operates as a frontage to the fibre cement factory in Pampanga, Philippines. The office is located next to the entrance gate before entering into the main factory line. A transitional space between the space of production and merchandise. Its main function is in hosting occupants across different time scales and corporate functions, from fleeting to permanent - daily logistics trucks, monthly external vendors, permanent factory staffs and in-house medical team. Essentially, a port for the factory.

Within this project, programmes are carefully crafted to host different type of residents. While creating a symbolic object representing the spirit of the company. The building is an exploration in the transfiguration of the standard D.I.Y fence construction technique found in local houses surrounding the area - usually as a barrier of sight, providing privacy or marking territory. Using the context as the starting point, we created ‘inversions’ - a play on the hierarchy of sub-structure and siding through the use of colour to mark new expressions.
This inversion of seeing the sub-structure that is hidden behind the fence creates a weave like visual effect.

The internal layout explored with the contrasting composition of geometries, treating architectural elements as sculptural objects, a collage of programs with in an open plan. The space evokes possibilities of rearrangements, creativity and expressions.
